Event: Amy Johnson: Last Flight Out’ at Hangar 42

Our resident Saving Amy Airspeed Oxford project is proud to announce a day of celebration of Amy Johnson on Saturday 14th October at Hangar 42 Spitfire visitors centre Blackpool airport . The day will start at 10.00 with a display of the Saving Amy Airspeed Oxford restoration project in memory of Amy’s faithful last flight in this type of aircraft .

There will be a number of guests available throughout the day such as Jane Priston from the Amy Johnson Herne bay project to talk about Amy’s life, achievements and untimely death . Jenny Lockyer will also be taking part and running a children’s workshop building models of Amy’s biplane “Jason “ in which Amy successfully flew solo from London to Australia in 1930 .

We will also have an Amy Johnson ATA Ferry pilot re enactor available for photograph opportunities throughout the day . In the evening there will be a special ticketed event where jenny Lockyer will be recalling Amy’s amazing flight from London England to Darwin Australia acting out the story in the words of Jason Amy’s aircraft

Getting there!

The cockpit side skins are almost finished, so we will soon have a complete cockpit structure. Next step will be fitting the controls and instruments. We will be displaying the cockpit at Lytham 1940’s weekend
